ELLEN MATHESON (nee MACDONELL) Peacefully in the early morning of Saturday, December 5, 2009, surrounded by her family, Mary Ellen Christina Matheson passed away at the Grace General Hospital. She was 86 years of age. Ellen is survived by her two sons: Bruce and wife Tara, and Gordon, wife Tracy and daughter Alysha; sister-in-law Rose Macdonell and nieces Gail and Susan. She was predeceased by her husband David Norman; sister Grace; brothers Arthur and Jack; her father Alexander Jerome and mother Gertrude Margaret. Ellen was born in Winnipeg on August 28, 1923 and lived most of her life in the city. After working briefly at Eaton's, she pursued a fulfilling career in nursing. At the time of her passing, she was associated with the Fort Garry congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses in Winnipeg. Ellen loved to share her Bible based hope of everlasting life on a paradise earth. (Ps 37:29) If an able bodied man dies, can he live again?..... You will call and I myself shall answer you. For the work of your hands will have a yearning. (Job 14:14,15) The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and support staff at the Grace General Hospital for their quality care. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 12, 2009 at the Fort Garry Kingdom Hall, 60 Cadboro Rd. In lieu of flowers, family has asked for donations to be sent to the Grace General Hospital or Watchtower Bible and Tract Society.
